Which documents are being replaced?
- Biometric residence permits (BRP)
- Biometric residence cards (BRC)
- Passport endorsements, such as indefinite leave to enter wet ink stamps.

Why Do I Need To Register For An E-Visa
After the 31st December 2024, Your employers, your schools, your landlords, your bank will all ask you to prove your status in the UK. If you show them your BRP card, you will not be allowed to work, not allowed to rent a property, and have your bank account closed. You will also not be able to travel back to the UK.
In order to prove your right to live and work in the UK, you will need to register for an online e-visa.
So who needs to register for an online visa?

- Indefinite leave or settlement holders
- Ankara Agreement (ECAA)
- Skilled Workers
- UK ancestry
- Start up and Innovators
- Human rights
- Asylum seekers
- EU Family Members
Basically, anyone that has a BRP card.
Travelling Abroad
After the 31st December 2024, you’ll be able to use an e-Visa to return to the UK after travelling abroad you will not need to carry your BRP but you will still need to have your current passport, which must be registered to your UKVI account. You will still need to use your BRP for travel until the 31st December 2024 even if you have registered for your e-Visa.
