Yes, you can be a digital nomad in Spain! The Spain Digital Nomad Visa is specifically designed for remote workers like you.
The Spain Digital Nomad visa is a residence permit designed for foreign professionals who work remotely for companies, employers, or clients located outside of Spain. It allows them to legally live in Spain while continuing their remote work using digital tools and technologies.
This visa is an excellent opportunity for remote workers, freelancers, or self-employed professionals who want to enjoy Spain’s culture, lifestyle, and environment while maintaining their careers.
Remote work authorization:
Applicants can work for foreign companies or clients outside Spain.
Self-employed individuals may work for Spanish clients, but this must not exceed 20% of their total workload.
Family inclusion: Spouses or partners, dependent children, and dependent parents can join the applicant.
Flexibility and convenience: The Spain Digital Nomad visa serves as both a residence and work permit for up to one year, with renewal options. You’ll also gain access to Spain’s healthcare, lifestyle, and amenities.

After receiving your visa, you can move to Spain and begin your digital nomad lifestyle!
The visa is valid for up to one year. If you want to stay longer, you can renew it as long as you still meet the requirements.
You must prove that you earn at least 200% of Spain’s monthly minimum wage (€1,134 for 2025). That means you need at least €2,268 per month. This amounts to a minimum annual income of €27,216 for one year.
If you’re bringing family members, you’ll need extra income:
75% more (€850.50/month) for the first family member.
25% more (€283.50/month) for each additional person.
If you live in Spain for more than 183 days in a year, you’ll become a tax resident. This means you may have to pay taxes on your worldwide income. Remote workers employed by foreign companies pay a flat tax rate of 24% on their work-related income up to €600,000, and 48% on any income exceeding that amount. Speak to a tax expert to understand your responsibilities.
You need to pay social security contributions. You can either:
Stay under your home country’s system (if allowed)
OR register with Spain’s social security system.
