Schengen Finland visa explained

A Schengen Finland visa is a short-stay visa (Type C) that allows you to visit Finland and the rest of the Schengen Area for up to 90 days within a 180-day period. It’s ideal for tourism, visiting family, business travel, attending cultural events, or medical reasons.

You can use a Finland visa to also visit other Schengen countries like Czech Republic, Croatia, Belgium, and more—just make sure Finland is your main destination.

Do you need a Finland visa?

You need a Schengen Finland visa if:

  • You're not from a visa-exempt country (like the U.S., UK, Canada, Australia, etc.).

  • You plan to stay in Finland or the Schengen zone for up to 90 days.

  • Finland is your main destination (you’ll spend the most time there, or it’s your first point of entry).

Starting late 2025, citizens of visa-exempt countries will need to apply for ETIAS—an online travel authorization, not a visa. Also, Airport Transit (Type A) Visa is only required if you’re from certain countries and are transiting through a Finnish airport without entering Finland.
